About this Hero
My supervisor, Athena Ramos, is a true Health Literacy Hero. With her outreach working group, she has been raising awareness of the importance of providing culturally appropriate information in the various educational and preventive interventions in the Latino community of Omaha, NE. Athena has been conducting research projects with migrant farmworkers in Nebraska and Kansas, and has placed her heart and commitment ensuring that the creation of research tools and educational materials have been designed taking into consideration the level of education and the level of understanding of the subjects involved in their projects. The same commitment has been in place since we started working together in 2002 with our Latino community.
