About this Hero
Clare Hanbury is a Health Literacy Hero because she founded the charity Children for Health, an organisation which has developed a new system of health education in the developing world, with children as agents of change at its core. The approach recognises the profound influence that children have in preventing disease and injury within their homes and communities, and is delivered across digital, mobile as well as other traditional platforms. Children for Health promotes children to learn, collect and share 100 key life-saving health messages across 10 topics, including Malaria, HIV, Nutrition and others. They develop activities, tools and materials that make learning important, relevant and fun.
Children for Health works in partnership with other international development organisations and charities, providing them with the technical advice and the systems they need to enhance their existing programmes.
Clare is at the driver and inspiration for all that Children for Health does.
